About UsThe Digital Design and Engineering academy is a program within Knight High school for students that are interested in pursuing engineering by engaging in project based learning that allows them to build, tinker, create, and make a personalized educational experience. Students in the academy have a common engineering, English, History, Science, and Math class while mixing with the rest of the school the remainder of the day. This small learning environment combined with all the benefits of a full service campus create an unique and wonderful place to learn!

Who We Are |
The DDE Academy is a California Partnership academy, meaning that we have partnered with the California Department of Education in order to offer our students a comprehensive educational experience that includes in depth career and college preparation, field trips, mentors, speakers, equipment, technology, and integrated instruction that is second to none! While students are challenged to problem solve and think innovatively in this program, they also see many more opportunities through the additional funding for college trips, industry tours, a state of the art MakerSpace and experiential environmental trips to Catalina.

Our History |
The DDE academy began admitting its first students in 2009 and has created a strong tradition of excellence ever since. Over our span of time students have participated in amazing projects including building an electric car, flying quad copters in international competitions in Australia, multiple MakerFaires, a Game Design project, local and international solar installations in the AV and Nicaragua, a makerspace installation in Costa Rica, and many more! We continue to layer on new elements and opportunities for our students every year and love hearing the jealousy of former students as it only continues to get better and stronger over time!
